Long Island Chinese Folk Dance group was founded in February 2011. Since then, the group has been practicing on a weekly basis, performed a variety of Chinese folk dances, and taken every opportunity to promote Chinese culture through their hard work.

Currently, there are eleven members in the group and they come from many different backgrounds. However, the one thing they share in common is their love for dancing. With great passion for traditional Chinese dance, they train with dedication and keep a good balance between work and family. Without the great support of their families, the creation and success of the group could not have been possible.

In the past four years, the dance group had been invited to perform on several occasions, including the Annual Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Celebration organized by Suffolk County Asian American Advisory Board; the Chinese New Year Celebration at the Charles Wang Center organized by Stony Brook University Confucius Institute; the Chinese New Year Celebration at Student Activity Center organized by Stony Brook University Chinese Students and Scholars Association; the Asian Pacific Celebration Month at the Brookhaven National Laboratory; the International Conference and Expo on Emerging Technologies for a Smarter World organized by the Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT) .
